Whatcha All About, Jaz?

My honey isn't the common version of beautiful.
He isn't chiseled, doesn't have a six-pack or the immaculate, clear skin that models and actors would love to make you believe is commonplace for the male gender. Nevertheless, he's nearly always available when I want to brush up on my portrait-taking chops. His name is Justin, and he's just another guy with insecurities similar to mine and yours. He's human, he's derivative of the inflated "desirable" portrait subject, and he's the real deal.

And that's what my portfolio is all about. I enjoy finding beauty in everyday things we take for granted. Now, I won't pass up that perfect landscape shot or an Instagram-esque photo of my dog being extra cute, but my heart lies in the realm of unconventionality.
Seeing things with new eyes -- all the time.
I'm much more likely to capture a dilapidated chain-link fence than last night's steak. Similarly, I adore shooting people (and nonliving objects) you wouldn't find in the magazines. Handing over the spotlight to imperfection and thus highlighting its beauty. Take my Empire State Bolt, for example...

....why would I go for a cliched lateral shot of the Big Apple when I can capture an old rusty bolt -- a tribute to the working class, the foundation, the thing that holds it all together?
I'm sure you get the gist of it now. Enjoy my little nook of the internet! :)
